AKU Croda DFS Evo Gore-Tex (AK963.2) – Black/Orange

Technical mountaineering on difficult and mixed terrain — the AKU Croda DFS Evo Gore-Tex is built around a Kevlar and Spider Frame upper, Gore-Tex More Seasons waterproofing, and a Vibram Litebase outsole that holds precision on the most technical passages. At 730g per half pair, it's 40g lighter than both the Croda BOA Gore-Tex and the Aurai DFS Evo Gore-Tex at 770g each. The Dual Fit System gives independent control over forefoot and ankle closure — open the lower zone for approach comfort, lock the ankle for technical terrain, without stopping to re-lace mid-route. Unlike the insulated Aurai DFS Evo, the Croda runs a three-season Gore-Tex More Seasons membrane for mixed terrain and the broader alpine calendar. An elastic snow gaiter cover seals out snow and debris. Resolable. Made in Italy.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

  • Dual Fit System (DFS) — two independent lacing zones give precise control on technical terrain: open the forefoot for approach comfort, lock the ankle zone for demanding sections without re-lacing mid-route
  • Kevlar and Spider Frame upper with Rubber Rand — resists cuts and abrasions from sharp rock edges on technical mountain terrain; the rand protects the boot perimeter where the foot meets stone directly
  • Gore-Tex More Seasons — waterproof on wet rock, snow approaches, and shoulder-season alpine routes; a non-insulated three-season membrane that covers more of the alpine calendar than the insulated Aurai DFS Evo Gore-Tex without adding thermal bulk
  • 730g per half pair — 40g lighter than the Croda BOA Gore-Tex and Aurai DFS Evo Gore-Tex (both 770g) — with resolable construction that extends boot life across multiple alpine seasons without replacing the whole boot
  • UK 3.5–13 including half sizes

BEST FOR

  • Technical mountaineers on difficult and mixed terrain where the Kevlar upper's impact and abrasion resistance is worth the 72g premium over the lighter Air8000 Viaz DFS GTX
  • Three-season and shoulder-season alpine approaches where Gore-Tex More Seasons covers the conditions but the Aurai DFS Evo's insulated lining would overheat on active ascents
  • Alpinists and serious mountain walkers who need DFS adjustability and resolable construction for sustained use across multiple seasons of technical terrain
