React Responsibly

AKU responsibility and long-term outdoor commitment
AKU is an Italian footwear company rooted in Montebelluna, built on craft, technical credibility and long-term comfort. We believe responsibility should be practical: measured, shared and improved season after season.

Our commitment focuses on three areas: products, operations and community — with transparent reporting to track progress and guide better decisions.

What responsibility means at AKU

  • Authenticity: real-world performance and products designed for lasting use.
  • Responsibility: acting with care for the environment and the community around our work.
  • Transparency: sharing what we do, what we learn, and what still needs work.
  • Expertise: craft and innovation working together — tested, verified and improved over time.

Responsibility is not a slogan for us. It is a continuous process of measuring impact, choosing better solutions, and building footwear that remains reliable and comfortable over the long term.

Measuring impact: from product to organisation

Product-level measurement

AKU has been a pioneer in the footwear sector in adopting certified methods to quantify and communicate environmental impact. This approach helps us compare solutions, guide design decisions, and improve over time.

Organisation-level footprint

After calculating and certifying emissions for individual products, AKU expanded its analysis to the full industrial organisation. This helps identify where impact is greatest and where reduction actions matter most — including upstream supply chain factors.

Built for long-term use

Our approach to responsibility is closely tied to longevity: the longer a boot remains comfortable, reliable and in active use, the more value it delivers. Care, maintenance and repair are practical parts of that story.
