AKU Work & Safety footwear is PPE-focused professional footwear built for jobsite compliance, stable support and long-wear durability in demanding environments—construction, infrastructure, utilities, forestry and outdoor trade work where surfaces are wet, uneven and abrasive. Models in this category are certified to the relevant EN ISO standards shown on each product page (model-dependent), including safety footwear (EN ISO 20345) and occupational footwear (EN ISO 20347). Each model lists its certification version, class marking (S- or O-classes) and additional performance codes, alongside a Declaration of Conformity where provided (model-dependent). Many models use Vibram® outsoles for durable traction, and selected models use Gore-Tex® waterproof membranes (model-dependent) to block water while allowing moisture vapour to escape.

What to expect

PPE-led compliance (model-dependent): EN ISO standard(s), class marking and performance codes are stated on each product page, supported by a Declaration of Conformity where provided.
Built for demanding worksites: stable support and durability for repeated daily wear on abrasive, uneven surfaces.
Traction you can specify: many models use Vibram® soles (model-dependent) aligned to intended work use.
Wet-weather options: selected models use Gore-Tex® waterproof membranes (model-dependent).
Clear coding for purchasing: model pages list class and additional requirement codes so you can match footwear to your risk assessment (model-dependent).

How to choose

1) Start with your required EN ISO standard: choose the model with the certification your role/site specifies (shown on the product page; model-dependent).
2) Match the class marking: use the S- or O-class (and any added codes) to align with hazards and ground conditions (model-dependent).
3) Confirm outsole and surface grip: check tread/outsole details (and any slip-related code) on the product page; many models use Vibram® (model-dependent).
4) Decide on waterproofing: if waterproof protection is required, choose models specified with Gore-Tex® and follow the exact membrane specification shown on the product page (model-dependent).

Your day looks like Look for
You need PPE compliance for site entry and audits EN ISO standard + class marking + performance codes on the product page (model-dependent)
Mixed surfaces: hard standing, rubble, wet ground, uneven access routes Outsole/tread matched to your surface + any slip-related code (model-dependent)
Persistent wet conditions, outdoor exposure, water ingress risk Gore-Tex® waterproofing where specified (model-dependent)
Long shifts where comfort and stability reduce fatigue Supportive construction + fit notes on the product page (model-dependent)

EN ISO standards explained (AKU Work & Safety) ▼

EN ISO standards

EN ISO 20345 Safety footwear standard (protective toe cap). The class marking starts with S (e.g., S3). Version/year is shown per model (model-dependent).
EN ISO 20347 Occupational footwear standard (no protective toe cap required). The class marking starts with O (e.g., O2). Version/year is shown per model (model-dependent).
Certification version You may see older (e.g., 2011/2012) and newer (e.g., 2022) versions depending on the model. Always follow the exact marking stated on the product page and Declaration of Conformity (model-dependent).

Class markings

S1 / O1 Baseline class for many indoor or mixed indoor/outdoor roles (features vary by version). Typically includes antistatic and heel energy absorption requirements (model-dependent).
S2 / O2 Adds upper water penetration/absorption performance (WPA) compared to S1/O1 (model-dependent).
S3 / O3 Typically adds puncture resistance and a cleated outsole compared to S2/O2 (model-dependent). (Puncture marking may appear as P, PL or PS depending on version and insert type.)
S6 / O6 Introduced in newer standard versions: typically S2/O2 plus full-footwear water resistance (WR) (model-dependent).
S7 / O7 Introduced in newer standard versions: typically S3/O3 plus full-footwear water resistance (WR) (model-dependent).

Additional requirement codes

WPA Upper water penetration and absorption requirement (model-dependent).
WR Water resistance of the whole footwear (model-dependent). Not the same as a membrane specification—always follow the product page details.
SR (new) Slip resistance marking in newer standards as an additional slip test. Older markings (SRA/SRB/SRC) may appear on older certified models (model-dependent).
HRO Heat-resistant outsole performance (model-dependent).
HI / CI Heat insulation / cold insulation (model-dependent).
FO Resistance to fuel oil (model-dependent).
P / PL / PS Puncture resistance marking (exact letter depends on standard version/test method) (model-dependent).
AN Ankle protection requirement (model-dependent).
