AKU Aurai DFS EVO Gore-Tex (AK965.2) – Black/Orange

The AKU Aurai DFS EVO Gore-Tex. Kevlar upper with Spider Frame structure and Rubber Rand, Carbon Fibre + Honeycomb Aluminum lasting board, Gore-Tex Insulated lining with Primaloft Aerogel, Vibram Litebase outsole — 770g per half pair built for winter mountaineering where cut resistance, thermal protection, and precision underfoot are all required on the same route. The insulated evolution of the Aurai DFS: 40g more than the Croda DFS EVO Gore-Tex for the Primaloft Aerogel insulation and the more demanding carbon-aluminum board, in a boot designed for sustained technical terrain in cold conditions.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

  • Kevlar + Spider Frame upper with Rubber Rand — Kevlar construction resists cuts and abrasion on rock and ice axe contact; Spider Frame adds torsional rigidity to the upper; the Rubber Rand protects the boot's most abrasion-exposed zone on technical ground
  • Gore-Tex Insulated + Primaloft Aerogel lining — winter-grade waterproofing with an insulation layer that maintains warmth under compression; Primaloft Aerogel delivers high thermal performance at minimal bulk, keeping the boot's profile tight without sacrificing warmth on sustained cold approaches
  • Carbon Fibre + Honeycomb Aluminum lasting board (Stiff) — maximum torsional rigidity for precise force transfer on technical footholds, crampon plate compatibility, and edge control on mixed terrain; a stiffer and more complex construction than the carbon-nylon board used in the Croda DFS EVO
  • Dual Fit System — precise foot-wrapping for sensitivity and control on footholds; keeps the boot responsive and locked-down on technical ground rather than moving inside under load
  • UK 3.5–13

BEST FOR

  • Winter mountaineers on Grade I–III Scottish winter routes, sustained alpine approaches, and mixed technical terrain where a non-insulated boot is insufficient and foot warmth is a primary concern
  • Technical climbers who need the Croda DFS EVO's Kevlar construction alongside insulation — the Aurai carries 40g more than the Croda DFS EVO for Primaloft Aerogel warmth and the carbon-aluminum board where conditions demand it
  • Those operating on cold, sustained technical ground where the combination of cut-resistant upper, stiff precision board, and winter-grade insulation in a single boot is the requirement: the Aurai DFS EVO is built specifically for that brief
