Dynamic Fit System

Adaptive heel hold that works with your stride — for comfort, stability and reduced slippage.

Dynamic Fit is AKU’s heel-tension technology designed to adapt dynamically as you walk. During the step, the system increases heel hold when you drive forward, then releases pressure when you land and load the heel — supporting comfort across long wear while helping reduce heel slip.

  • More stability: improved control through the step.
  • Reduced slippage: locks heel more during forward push.
  • Comfort over time: releases pressure when the heel is loaded.
What this means for you

A heel that feels more secure when you move, without feeling constantly over-tight when you’re just standing or landing on the heel.

What is Dynamic Fit?

Dynamic Fit uses a floating webbing behind the heel connected to the laces. As you walk, the system changes tension through the step: it increases heel lock during forward drive, then releases pressure when the heel is loaded — supporting comfort and stability.

How it works (Push Phase + Support Phase)

Push Phase (forward drive)

As you step forward, the motion generates tension on the laces connected to the floating heel webbing. The heel counter moves forward, helping to lock the heel and reduce slippage.

Support Phase (heel load)

When you rest on the heel, tension is released from the laces and floating webbing, allowing the heel and Achilles area to move back. This reduces pressure on the foot and supports better comfort through the stride.

Jargon buster (plain English)

Heel slippage
When the heel lifts/moves inside the boot while walking, increasing friction and reducing control.
Heel counter
The structured part of the boot around the heel that supports stability and hold.
Floating webbing
A strap/webbing section behind the heel that changes tension through the step.

Care (keep Dynamic Fit working smoothly)

Dynamic Fit relies on the lace path and heel webbing moving freely. Keep the lace area clean and avoid over-tightening.

1
Keep lace paths clean
Rinse grit from lace channels/eyelets so tension changes remain smooth and even.
2
Tighten for hold, not pain
Dynamic Fit works best when lacing is secure but not crushing. If you feel pressure, back off slightly and re-tighten evenly.
3
Check for lace wear
Worn laces can slip and reduce consistent heel hold. Replace if frayed or flattened.
Dynamic Fit FAQs

Is Dynamic Fit the same as DFS?
No. DFS is a two-mode forefoot lacing system (Comfort Walking / Precise Climbing). Dynamic Fit is a heel-tension system that adapts through the stride.
Will Dynamic Fit stop heel lift completely?
It is designed to reduce slippage by increasing heel lock during forward drive, but sizing, sock choice and lacing still matter most. If you still get heel lift, you may need a different size or last shape.
Does it feel tighter at the heel?
You may feel more secure heel hold when moving. If you feel pressure at rest, slightly reduce lace tension and ensure it’s even across eyelets.
